Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use apply when you visit the Mahjong Trainer website, purchase a subscription, or download, access, or use Mahjong Trainer. The product is provided by Cedar Theory LLC. By using the website or app, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
When you obtain the app through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies and is incorporated into these Terms. These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA. If a provision conflicts, the Apple Standard EULA controls to the extent required for an app distributed through the App Store. Google Play's applicable terms also apply when you obtain the app through Google Play.
App license
Subject to these Terms and any applicable store terms, Cedar Theory LLC grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Mahjong Trainer on compatible devices that you own or control.
Auto-renewable subscriptions
Mahjong Trainer may offer monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions that unlock premium access. The exact subscription title, billing period, localized price, currency, and any introductory offer are shown in the app or checkout before you confirm a purchase.
Monthly subscription
The monthly plan renews every month. A 7-day free trial is shown only when the applicable store or checkout reports that the introductory offer is available to you. If eligible, you will not be charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to the paid monthly plan at the price shown when you subscribe.
Annual subscription
The annual plan renews every year. It does not include a free trial unless an introductory offer is specifically displayed by the applicable store or checkout before purchase.
Billing, renewal, and cancellation
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel it before the end of the current billing period. Store-specific timing and renewal terms shown at purchase also apply.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- You can use Restore Purchases in the app to restore an eligible subscription associated with your store account.
- Apple or Google handles billing questions and refund requests under the applicable store policies. Cedar Theory LLC does not receive your full payment card details.
Direct web purchases
If direct card checkout is available, Stripe processes the payment for Cedar Theory LLC. The checkout shows the product, price, billing period, taxes, trial terms, and renewal terms before purchase. Direct subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Card charges use the statement descriptor MAHJONG TRAINER.
To cancel or ask about a direct web purchase, contact Mahjong Trainer support at help@trainmahjong.com or (908) 368-1924. Cancellation stops future renewal and does not normally reverse a completed charge. Refund rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.
If the app store cannot collect a renewal payment, access may continue during a billing retry or grace period where supported. Premium access may end when a subscription expires, is refunded, or is revoked.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Copy, redistribute, sell, or sublicense the app or content
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly permits it
- Circumvent subscription checks, access controls, or security features
- Interfere with the app, its billing integration, an app store, or another person's use of the app
- Use the app for unlawful or fraudulent activity
Educational content
Mahjong Trainer is an educational practice tool. Rules, conventions, and card interpretations may vary by league, publication, year, table, or tournament. The app does not guarantee that every lesson or practice result will match a particular organizer's current ruling.
You are responsible for checking the official rules that apply to your game. Mahjong Trainer is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Google, or any mahjong league unless the app expressly states otherwise.
Ownership and feedback
Mahjong Trainer, including its software, design, text, lessons, illustrations, audiovisual material, and branding, is owned by Cedar Theory LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
If you send feedback, you grant Cedar Theory LLC permission to use it without restriction or compensation, provided that doing so does not override rights described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability and disclaimers
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app. We do not promise that the app will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or future operating system.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and its content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cedar Theory LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or opportunities arising from your use of or inability to use Mahjong Trainer.
Where liability cannot be excluded, Cedar Theory LLC's total liability related to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the app or subscription during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so part of this section may not apply to you.
Changes and termination
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the app, subscriptions, or legal requirements. We will post revised Terms on this page and update the effective date. Your continued use after revised Terms become effective means you accept them.
Your license ends if you materially violate these Terms. Terms that by their nature should continue after termination will remain in effect, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
